The Carnival of the Animals
Album by Camille Saint‐Saëns & Georges Bizet & Paul Dukas & Maurice Ravel & Royal Scottish National Orchestra & Sir Alexander Gibson & Hallé Orchestra & James Loughran
The Carnival of the Animals is a musical suite by French composer Camille Saint-Saëns, composed in 1886. The suite comprises a series of short character pieces that use classical orchestral and chamber textures to evoke various animals through distinct instrumental colours and playful motifs, and it occupies an unusual place in Saint-Saëns's output as a brief, witty divertimento contrasting with his larger-scale symphonic and operatic works.
