Age of Anxiety
Album by Leonard Bernstein & Philippe Entremont & Zino Francescatti & New York Philharmonic & Leonard Bernstein
The Age of Anxiety is Leonard Bernstein's Symphony No. 2, completed in 1951. The work fuses symphonic form with jazz- and blues-inflected rhythms and an extended piano part that creates quasi-improvisatory textures, reflecting Bernstein's blend of classical, jazz and theatrical influences and representing a programme-driven, transitional work in his post-war orchestral output.
