The Blues and the Abstract Truth

Album by Oliver Nelson

The Blues and the Abstract Truth is a studio album by American jazz saxophonist and arranger Oliver Nelson, released in 1961. Musically the album blends blues-rooted themes with modern jazz harmonies and features tightly arranged horn writing with room for improvisation, and it came at a time when Nelson had begun to shift from sideman work to recognition for his composing and arranging.
