The Seasons, op. 8
Album by Antonio Vivaldi & Guido Cantelli & New York Philharmonic & John Corigliano, Sr.
The Seasons, Op. 8 is a set of four violin concertos by Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi, published in 1725. Composed in the Baroque idiom, the concertos employ vivid programme-inspired musical imagery, virtuosic solo violin writing and clear contrasts between soloist and ensemble, and they stand as a key example in Vivaldi's output and in the development of the solo concerto and programme music.
