Symphony no. 4

Album by Gustav Mahler & Berliner Philharmoniker & Yannick Nézet‐Séguin & Christiane Karg

Symphony No. 4 is the fourth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1900. The work, situated in the late-Romantic repertoire, features relatively transparent orchestration and more concise proportions than Mahler's earlier large-scale symphonies, combining pastoral and childlike thematic material and concluding with a soprano solo that introduces vocal narration into the symphonic form, marking a transitional point in his compositional development.
