Album by Jean Sibelius & Radion sinfoniaorkesteri & Monica Groop & Jorma Hynninen & Polyteknikkojen Kuoro & Jukka‐Pekka Saraste
Kullervo is a choral symphony by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, composed and first performed in 1892. The work combines large-scale orchestral writing with solo vocal parts and a male-voice chorus in a programme drawn from the Kalevala, featuring folk-inspired motifs, bold orchestral colours and dramatic declamation, and it occupies a formative, experimental place in Sibelius's early career that anticipated elements of his later symphonic output.
