Symphonie Nr. 5

Symphonie Nr. 5 is the fifth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1902 and first performed in 1904. The work is a large-scale late-Romantic symphony for a substantial orchestra, characterised by wide-ranging dynamics, intricate contrapuntal writing and varied orchestral colours, and it occupies a transitional place between Mahler's earlier song-influenced symphonies and his later, more abstract orchestral works.
