Symphonies 4 "The Inextinguishable" & 5

Album by Carl Nielsen & Radion sinfoniaorkesteri & Jukka‐Pekka Saraste

Symphonies Nos. 4 "The Inextinguishable" and 5 are orchestral works by Danish composer Carl Nielsen, composed in 1916 and 1922. They show Nielsen's shift from late Romantic orchestral textures to a more modern, sometimes dissonant language with vivid brass, strong rhythmic energy and contrasting moods, and they date from the late period of his career during and after the First World War.
