Ordo virtutum

Album by Hildegard von Bingen & Seraphic Fire

Ordo Virtutum is a 12th-century liturgical drama by the German abbess and composer Hildegard von Bingen, composed around 1151. Written for voices with plainchant-based melodies and modal organisation, it exemplifies medieval sacred music and occupies a distinctive place in Hildegard's output as a rare surviving example of a medieval morality play set to music that reflects her liturgical and visionary concerns.
