The Firebird / Petrushka
Album by Igor Fyodorovitch Stravinsky & New York Philharmonic & Leonard Bernstein
The Firebird and Petrushka are orchestral ballet suites by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky, composed in 1910 and 1911. Both works feature vivid orchestration, folk-influenced motifs and bold rhythmic invention, and they signalled a transition in Stravinsky's output from late-Romantic influences towards the early modernist language that would define his subsequent career.
