Symphonies 5, 8 & 9

Album by Franz Schubert & Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment & Charles Mackerras

Symphonies Nos. 5, 8 and 9 is a collection of orchestral works by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, composed between 1816 and 1826. They illustrate Schubert's progression from a classically poised, lyric style through increasingly expansive harmonic language and orchestral colour, with the later symphony displaying a broad, cyclical conception that helped shape early Romantic symphonic writing.
