Symphony no. 9
Album by Franz Schubert & Philharmonia Orchestra & Charles Mackerras
Symphony No. 9 in C major (D.944) is the ninth symphony by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, composed between 1825 and 1828. The work is expansive and orchestral in scope, characterised by broad, lyrical melodies, rich orchestration and extended developmental passages, and it represents a culmination of Schubert's late orchestral writing that influenced nineteenth-century symphonic practice.
