Symphony No. 1
Album by Gustav Mahler & Boston Symphony Orchestra & Erich Leinsdorf
Symphony No. 1 is the first symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1888. Blending late-Romantic orchestration, folk-influenced melodies and dramatic structural contrasts, the work serves as an early large-scale orchestral statement in Mahler's career and foreshadows musical ideas he developed in later symphonies.
First released: March 1963
