Mikrokosmos is a collection of 153 progressive solo piano pieces by Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, composed between 1926 and 1939. The pieces progress from simple pedagogical studies to advanced concert works and employ folk-inspired modes, modernist harmonies and rhythmic innovation that illustrate development in Bartók's compositional language and 20th-century piano technique.
