Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection"
Album by Gustav Mahler & Pražský filharmonický sbor & Česká filharmonie & Václav Neumann
Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection" is the second symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1894 and first performed in 1895. A large-scale late-Romantic work that employs expanded orchestral forces alongside chorus and a vocal solo in its finale, it examines themes of death, the afterlife and spiritual renewal through broad symphonic architecture and represents a key point in Mahler's progression toward monumental, voice-inclusive symphonies.
