Symphony no. 2 “Resurrection”

Album by Gustav Mahler & Edith Mathis & Doris Soffel & London Philharmonic Orchestra & London Philharmonic Choir & Klaus Tennstedt

Symphony No. 2, 'Resurrection', is the second symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1894. A large-scale late-Romantic work scored for orchestra with chorus and vocal soloists, it juxtaposes funeral-march material with expansive orchestral and choral textures to explore themes of death and resurrection and represents a decisive expansion of Mahler's symphonic language through the integration of vocal forces into the symphony.
First released: 1982
