Romeo and Juliet is a ballet score by Russian composer Sergey Prokofiev, completed in 1936. The music combines lyrical melodies, colourful orchestration and propulsive rhythms within a late-Romantic/modernist orchestral idiom, and it occupies an important place in Prokofiev's career as a large-scale stage work that shaped his approach to dramatic and symphonic writing.
