Symphonies no. 1 & no. 5
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Beethoven Orchester Bonn & Stefan Blunier
Symphonies No. 1 and No. 5 are orchestral works by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed around 1800 and during 1804–1808 respectively. They illustrate Beethoven's transition from Classical to early Romantic orchestral language, the first adhering largely to classical forms while the fifth employs a compact, motivic-driven architecture, heightened rhythmic urgency and expanded orchestral forces that signalled new directions in 19th-century symphonic writing.
