Symphonies nos. 5 & 6
Album by Franz Schubert & The Classical Band & Bruno Weil
Symphonies Nos. 5 & 6 are orchestral works by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, composed in 1816 and 1818 respectively. Both symphonies exemplify early Romantic-era orchestral writing with classical forms, transparent textures, lyrical melodies and light, buoyant orchestration, representing a transitional phase in Schubert's development as he moved towards larger-scale symphonic expression.
