Symphonie No. 1 in D
Album by Gustav Mahler & Berliner Philharmoniker & Claudio Abbado
Symphony No. 1 in D is the first symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, composed in 1888. Marked by expansive late-Romantic orchestration, pastoral and folk-like motifs and dramatic shifts in mood and texture, it announces Mahler's emergence as a symphonic voice and foreshadows the larger-scale structures and orchestral colours of his later works.
