Symphonie Nr. 1 in D major ("Der Titan") is the first symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, composed in 1887–88 and first performed in 1889. A late-Romantic symphonic work that draws on Lieder-like melodies, folk-inflected motifs and expansive orchestration across its movements, it represents Mahler's early move towards the large-scale, emotionally wide-ranging symphonies that characterise his later career.
