Scenes from Goethe's Faust is a scenic cantata by German composer Robert Schumann, completed in 1853. Drawing on large-scale choral and orchestral forces alongside solo voices, the work employs Romantic harmonic language, dramatic declamation and episodic tableaux to engage with Goethe's drama, and represents one of Schumann's major late attempts to tackle grand literary and theatrical subjects.
