Lachrimae or Seaven Teares
Album by John Dowland & Hathor Consort & Romina Lischka
Lachrimae, or Seaven Teares is a collection of lute and viol consort music by English composer John Dowland, published in 1604. The music comprises a sequence of instrumental pavans and lute pieces in the late Renaissance idiom, characterised by melancholic modal melodies, intricate polyphonic textures and ornate lute ornamentation, and it occupies a central place in Dowland's output and in the development of English consort repertoire.
