String Quartets: "From My Life" / "American"
Album by Bedřich Smetana & Antonín Dvořák & Amadeus Quartet
This album is a recording of chamber works by Czech composer Bedřich Smetana, presenting his two mature string quartets composed in 1876 and 1882. The quartets, rooted in late-Romantic harmonic language and infused with folk-influenced melodies and programme elements, chart Smetana's turn towards more personal and nationally oriented chamber writing within his later career.
First released: 28th September 1992
