Iberia
Album by Isaac Albéniz & Nicholas Unwin
Iberia is a suite for solo piano by Spanish composer Isaac Albéniz, completed in 1909. The twelve pieces blend Spanish folk rhythms, modal melodies and impressionistic harmonies into highly virtuosic, colourfully textured piano writing, and the cycle represents a late-career culmination of Albéniz's exploration of national Spanish idioms with notable influence on subsequent Spanish piano repertoire.
