The Dream of Gerontius, 1900
Album by Edward Elgar & Paul McCreesh
The Dream of Gerontius is an oratorio by English composer Edward Elgar, first performed in 1900. The work uses large-scale choral and orchestral forces to set a religious and poetic text in a late-Romantic musical language with rich harmony and distinctive orchestral colour, and it came as Elgar developed his practice in large-scale choral and orchestral music.
