Symphony no. 6

Album by Nikolai Yakovlevich Miaskovsky & Göteborgs Symfoniker & Neeme Järvi

Symphony No. 6 is the sixth symphony by Russian composer Nikolai Miaskovsky, composed in 1921. The work is a sombre, late-Romantic orchestral symphony characterised by expansive, lyrical themes, dense harmonic language and an often austere orchestral palette that marks a consolidation of Miaskovsky's mature symphonic voice in the early Soviet period.
First released: 3rd June 2002
