Symphonies nos. 5 & 6

Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & ORF Radio‐Symphonieorchester Wien & Bertrand de Billy

Symphonies Nos. 5 and 6 are orchestral works by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed and first performed in 1808. They illustrate Beethoven's shift from Classical models towards a more personal Romantic approach, the Fifth employing a concise, motif-driven structure while the Sixth adopts a pastoral, programme-oriented character that reflects his interest in depicting nature, marking a pivotal point in his symphonic output and in early 19th-century music.
