Symphony no. 4 in G major

Album by Gustav Mahler & Sylvia Stahlman & Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest & Sir Georg Solti

Symphony No. 4 in G major is the fourth symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed and premiered in 1901. Musically it blends late-Romantic lyricism with relatively transparent, chamber-like orchestration and classical forms, culminating in a finale for soprano that presents a childlike vision and thus serves as a lighter, more concise counterpoint to Mahler's larger symphonies and a transitional work in his output.
First released: November 1961
