Album by Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky‐Korsakov & Berliner Philharmoniker & Lorin Maazel
Scheherazade is a symphonic suite by Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, composed and first performed in 1888. The work features lush, colourful orchestration, prominent solo passages and recurring thematic material that evokes Orientalist storytelling drawn from One Thousand and One Nights, and it occupies a central place in Rimsky-Korsakov's output and the late Romantic Russian orchestral repertoire.
