Dido & Aeneas is a short Baroque opera by English composer Henry Purcell, first performed c. 1689. It combines Baroque vocal and choral writing with colourful instrumental textures and ground-bass techniques, and as one of Purcell's major stage works it occupies an important place in the development of English Baroque opera.
