String Quartets Op. 59 and Op. 74 are sets of chamber works by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed in 1806 and 1809 respectively. They fall within Beethoven's middle period and feature expanded formal complexity, dramatic contrasts, intensified contrapuntal writing and innovative textural effects that broadened the expressive and structural possibilities of the string quartet and influenced subsequent chamber repertoire.
