Symphonie No. 1 D-dur
Album by Gustav Mahler & Boston Symphony Orchestra & Seiji Ozawa
Symphonie No. 1 in D major is the first symphony by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler, completed in 1888 and premiered in 1889. Musically it is a late-Romantic orchestral work that combines expansive orchestral colour, dramatic contrasts and folk-influenced motifs, and its explorations of programme elements and large-scale structure marked a key step in Mahler's development toward his later symphonies.
