Piano Quartet in G minor K478 / Piano Quartet in E flat K493
Album by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart & Leopold String Trio & Paul Lewis
Piano Quartets in G minor, K.478 and in E flat, K.493 are chamber works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, composed in 1785 and 1786 respectively. They are scored for piano with violin, viola and cello and combine Classical-era clarity and transparent textures with sudden harmonic shifts and expressive contrasts, and they form part of Mozart's late 1780s output that expand his use of the piano within chamber music.
