One Step Up

This single by American singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen was released in 1988. Musically it presents a restrained, melancholic take on heartland rock with acoustic guitar, spare synthesiser and organ textures and confessional lyrics, and it marked a shift in Springsteen's late-1980s work toward more introspective, domestic themes compared with his earlier arena-oriented rock.
