Piano Sonatas Op. 13, "Pathetique" and Op. 2 No.3

Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Claudio Arrau

Piano Sonatas Op. 13 and Op. 2 No. 3 are piano sonatas by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed in 1798 and 1795 respectively. Both works exemplify Beethoven's early-period piano writing within the Classical tradition, combining dramatic gestures and sudden dynamic contrasts with lyrical slow movements and an expanded approach to form that points towards his later compositional developments.
