The Wooden Prince and Dance Suite is a pairing of orchestral works by Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, completed in 1917 and 1923. The music draws on Central European folk modes, dissonant harmonies, wide orchestral colours and shifting metres, and the pair show Bartók's move from a richly chromatic, late-Romantic sound toward a leaner, rhythm-focused modernist style that sits between his early and middle compositional phases.
