Symphonie fantastique
Album by Hector Berlioz & Hallé Orchestra & James Loughran
Symphonie fantastique is a programme symphony by French composer Hector Berlioz, composed and premiered in 1830. The five-movement work employs bold, colourful orchestration, recurring thematic ideas and expanded orchestral forces to convey a narrative of obsessive love and dreamlike visions, and it marked a turning point in Berlioz's career while contributing to the development of Romantic programme music.
