Symphony no. 6 in D “Le Matin” / Symphony no. 7 in C “Le Midi” / Symphony no. 8 in G “Le Soir”

Album by Joseph Haydn & The Hanover Band & Roy Goodman

Symphonies Nos. 6–8 are three early symphonies by Austrian composer Joseph Haydn, composed in 1761. They exemplify early Classical symphonic style with clear textures, prominent wind writing and programme-like gestures that evoke times of day, and they represent formative experiments in orchestral colour and dramatic character that helped shape Haydn's development of the symphony.
First released: June 1991
