Beethoven: String Quartet Op. 130 / Grosse Fuge Op. 133

Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & Petersen Quartett

These late string quartet works are by Ludwig van Beethoven, completed in the mid-1820s and published in 1827. They are chamber music that expand harmonic and formal boundaries through dense counterpoint, abrupt contrasts, extended movements and unexpected textures, and they appear near the end of Beethoven's compositional career where they influenced later developments in 19th-century chamber music.
