Eine kleine Nachtmusik / Posthorn Serenade

Album by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart & Wiener Philharmoniker & James Levine

This release compiles two serenades by Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, originally composed in 1787 and in 1779-80. Both pieces exemplify Classical-era serenade writing, featuring clear, lyrical melodies and light chamber and orchestral textures suited to social and outdoor performance, and they occupy roles in Mozart's output that bridge his earlier courtly works and his later mature orchestral style.
