Brandenburg Concertos Nos. 1, 3 and 5 are selections from the set of six concertos by German composer Johann Sebastian Bach, first published in 1721. They exemplify the Baroque concerto grosso style through contrasting groupings of soloists and ensemble, lively rhythmic drive, intricate counterpoint and passages of solo virtuosity, and occupy a central position in Bach's instrumental output and the Baroque orchestral repertoire.
