The Three Sonatas for Piano

Album by Robert Schumann & Beatrice Berrut

The Three Piano Sonatas are a set of three solo piano sonatas by Robert Schumann, composed between 1835 and 1838. They display hallmark Romantic features — lyrical themes, abrupt contrasts and chromatic, sometimes unstable harmonies — and mark an important phase in Schumann's progression from early piano miniatures to larger-scale, formally ambitious piano works.
