Brandenburg Concertos, Volume 1

Album by Johann Sebastian Bach & London Festival Orchestra & Ross Pople

Brandenburg Concertos, Volume 1 refers to the first volume of Johann Sebastian Bach's Brandenburg Concertos, a set of six instrumental concertos that were compiled and published in 1721. The works exemplify Baroque concerto grosso practice with contrasting groups of soloists and ensemble, characterised by inventive instrumentation, contrapuntal writing and a central place in Bach's instrumental output and Baroque music history.
