Sonates pour violon et piano

Album by Béla Bartók & David Fiodorovich Oistrakh & Frida Bauer & Gidon Kremer & Oleg Maisenberg

Sonates pour violon et piano is a set of violin sonatas by Hungarian composer Béla Bartók, composed in 1908 and 1921. The works combine late-Romantic virtuosity with emergent modernist language, incorporating folk-inspired modes, extended dissonance and rhythmic complexity, and represent a transition in Bartók's output from an early exploratory phase to a more mature, nationally inflected style.
