Symphony no. 3 “Eroica” / Overtures: Fidelio & Egmont
Album by Ludwig van Beethoven & New York Philharmonic & Leonard Bernstein
Symphony No. 3 in E-flat major (the 'Eroica') is the third symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed in 1803–1804. Musically it expanded the scale and structural ambition of the symphony with extended movements, bold harmonic exploration and inventive orchestration, while the overtures written for his stage works from the same period display concise dramatic writing and orchestral gesture, marking a turning point in his middle period style.
