Symphony N. 1 Op. 68
Album by Johannes Brahms & Eugen Jochum & Berliner Philharmoniker
Symphony No. 1 in C minor, Op. 68 is the first symphony by German composer Johannes Brahms, completed and premiered in 1876. The work combines late-Romantic orchestral colour and rigorous classical forms, with expansive thematic development, dense orchestration and a long-building finale that signalled Brahms's arrival as a major symphonic composer after years focused on chamber and choral music.
