Stars and Stripes Forever
Album by John Philip Sousa & Philip Jones Brass Ensemble & Elgar Howarth
Stars and Stripes Forever is a march by American composer John Philip Sousa, written in 1896. The music is a patriotic concert march with a brisk tempo, prominent brass and woodwind writing and a contrasting melodic trio, and it became a staple of American wind band repertoire that was frequently performed by Sousa's own band and by military and civic ensembles in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
