Symphony no. 2 in E minor
Album by Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff & London Symphony Orchestra & André Previn
Symphony No. 2 in E minor, Op. 27 is the second symphony by Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, completed in 1907. Rooted in the late-Romantic orchestral tradition, the four-movement work is characterised by expansive themes, richly textured orchestration and dramatic contrasts, and it represents a key stage in Rachmaninoff's career as he re-established his compositional voice after the difficulties surrounding his First Symphony.
