Der Tod und das Mädchen
Album by Franz Schubert & Amadeus Quartet
Der Tod und das Mädchen is a string quartet (No. 14 in D minor, D.810) by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, composed in 1824. Musically it is a Romantic-era chamber work that contrasts turbulent, minor-key movements with a lyrical slow-variation movement, and it was written in Schubert's late period when he aimed to broaden the emotional range of his instrumental music.
